Hi had a customer report that their phone on reception, ext 144, now has a fault that it will ring and they are unable to pick up the call. If you use either a headset or the handset to pick up the call the phone just keeps ringing. The only way to stop this from happening is to unplug the phone and plug it back in again. We have been out to site and swapped out the DS 30 module that the phone is plugged into, before we have to look at swapping the system out any ideas on this? system is 406 ds 3.0 (69)

may it just be the phone. if you look in call status or monitor it should show the call and why it is ringing. monitor may be the best choice to look at. Fi it just keeps ringing will it go to vmail or follow any coverge paths?

no the problem is occuring on more than one phone os this rules it out being a phone problem

DS30? how many phones do you have plugged into it? More than 27 you need the modified power supply.

Also, how many DSS units or EU24's do you have plugged into that DS30?

might be worth upgrading to 3.1(65) or other later release. It is possibly just a bug in the software. You'll have to dig into the release notes to find out for sure.

all ports of the ds unit are in use will this be the cause?

i would try getting the modded ps or even another unit to level our the phones

when the cusotmer originally started expereincing this problem we went to site and swapped out the phone 30 unit, this was a version 1 with correct power supply so doenst this exclude the power supply issue as being the problem?

hrm...not sure about that.

what about this...

"how many DSS units or EU24's do you have plugged into that DS30?"

trying to use too many off of one DS module could cause problems.

First thing 3.0 (69) i wouldt never use a 3.0 version.

Upgrade to 3.2 (54) and then start trouble shooting.
This was a bug in the 3.0 releases.

Are you using the 4 Port CO trunk modules in the processor or a T1?

There was an issue with the 4 Port CO trunk modules a good ways back...it as an issue with calls continuing to ring, but if I remembered correctly it rang ALL of the phones.

Anyway...just curious.

Thanks,

Tim
