It's no secret that Sun sells the Legato product under the name 'Sun Solstice Backup Server', and they seem to be pretty much identical.

Sun seems to lag Legato a bit in patches and updates (at least from what I can tell).

I am exploring switching from Sun Solstice Backup Server to Legato product. I have been in contact with Legato regarding costs to change licenses, support contract, etc. I will not disclose any large details of my reasoning behind this, but let's just say that I need to improve my current level of service and Legato seems to have more licensing options than what Sun currently does.

Obviously, I am in a Sun Solaris shop.

Has anyone else made the migration from Sun to Legato with their licensing and support? Comments?

Thanks!

I had the same problem, but it seems Legato Support is worst than Sun's support. Nevertheless you can buy the licenses that provides Legato to Legato and they will work fine with the Solstice Backup packages ... making a few changes ...

If you have choice, I prefer Veritas Net Backup all the way long ...
