Hello

Using XP pro SP2.

This laptop was formerly attached to the SBS 2003 domain of my company.

I would like to have this laptop quit the domain and create a stand alone profile. I am understanding that doing so might create password problems on this PC.

I do have an domain administrator password on this Machine. I am not sure I have a local administrator profile and password. How can I check it?

I browsed MS support site and this one and still looking for a step by step approach to do it properly. Any link welcome.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Easy,

Whilst logged on as the Domain Admin change the password of the local admin account, also create a second Admin account (just to be safe). Once the account admin has been completed change the domain membership from Domain to Workgroup (generally use the name Workgroup for the new workgroup membership), you may be prompted for a password to leave your current domain but if doing it as the Domain Admin you might not be.

You will be forced to reboot the laptop, relog back on with your admin account and you should be good to go.

The real world is not about exam scores, it's about ability.
