SQL database field size limitation

i am trying to create a text field that can accomodate upto 20000 xters. i discober the max lenght of a text field is 8000. pls what can i do to expand the field to accommodate the message i want to store in the fields. Any idea pls

Try text/ntext instead of varchar.

And while you are at it read up on ntext/text in BOL. There are some special commands to learn for manipulating data in these types of fields.
