SPM reinstall ? 1

I recently had to reload my XP laptop and now when I reinstalled SPM I am having a problem with my external USB 56K modem. When I select an account that I want to dial into and press connect I see the modem optionI want and highlight it and when I press ok it immediately switches to WAN Miniport. I checked my device manager and it shows this modem on comport 7. Am I doing something wrong? I disabled the built in modem as it is defective.

I would re-visit the "SETTINGS > CONFIGURE TAPI" and see if that helps.
