SOHO3 connected to a DSL modem, surfing net fine, Windows Update used to work, however now when I click on Scan for updates and it sits at 0% before finally going to 33%, 66% and finally it says I have x amount of critical updates to download. However, when I click on Review items to download it hangs and eventually says IE not responding. Took a laptop home and it works fine so it's something on the network/isp. Also went through all of MS's checks for why WU won't work.

I noticed that when I run WU I get the following two entries in my Sonicwall log.

Received a path MTU icmp message from router/gateway
67.36.xx.xx 67.36.xx.xx MTU:1492

ICMP packet dropped 67.36.xx.xx, 3, WAN 67.36.xx.xx, 3, WAN 'Dest Unreachable'

Are these "normal" msgs in the log? Any idea why WU no longer works?

Using Firmware version: 6.2.0.0
How can I get the 6.5 upgrade?

Thanks,
Jeff

I am getting the same thing. It also seems to be blocking terminal services from the WAN. Have you gotten anywhere on solving this?

Hi Guys,

I'm having a similar problem with a Sonicwall SOHO3 connected to a cable modem.

All surfing seems to be fine. I can even get to the Windows Update (WU) site.

When I get to the WU page, and SCAN FOR UPDATES, the scan quickly reaches 100% and comes back with an error. This does not happen when I connect to the cable modem directly.

I've updated the device to firmware version: 6.5.0.3

The update has not done anything for me. Same problem.

I contacted Sonicwall support, and they suggested to reduce the MTU setting to 1496 from 1500.

Advanced>>Ethernet>>MTU

Changing this setting did not help either.

Since, my support from Sonicwall has expired... I cannot contact them again.

Anyone out there seen something like this before?
