sliced images?

Hello, i have an image and i sliced the images in 8 pieces. But when i try to save the image then it saves it as one whole image. Whats the point of slicing it when it saves it back as the whole image. I thought it saved all the sliced parts sepperatly?
Im probably doing something wrong, can someone help me out with this.

In Photoshop place guides where you want the slices. Then go to file>edit in imageready where you can slice and save.
