Hi, I'm currently planning a project with Director and need a way of databasing messages posted on the internet. I'm comfortable with Lingo so was thinking about just using postNetText() to append the messages to a text file located on the site. When people logged in I could then load the message file into a list so that it could be searched or individual messages pulled out according to their message ID.

The problem with this is that Msc I.E. doesn't support postNetText() and when the text file grows it will take longer and longer to load the messages and also it seems that I will need to scroll to the end of the file to pick up the last message ID before appending a new message with that ID + 1. This doesn't feel like the best way of doing things. Does anyone know a better/easier way of doing it? A DB xtra would be nice but there is no funding available for the project so it would need to be free (or VERY cheap!)

Thanks,

Tom
