I need to know the commands to shutdown and restart an SCO OpenServer Release 5 box. When I type shutdown at the tty01# prompt. It displays a broadcast message to users, that the system will be shutdown in 60 seconds. It then prompts me to logout so that it may shutdown. I am not sure what commands to use to use to logout at that point. What is the correct produre or commands for shutting down and restarting. Thanks, Andy

The logout message is not meant for you- it's just being sent to everyone.

shutdown -g0 -y

shuts down now without asking any more questions.

You can add a -i 6 if you want to immediately reboot. Tony Lawrence
