Sharepoint designer sql data update edit tools?

I have migrated and access 2003 database to sql express and successfully connected a database to my WSS 3.0 site using only datalist and creating new sql connection, I got an error using the connecto to database option, something like "data retrieval service could not, server error and such", that is another issue if someone could help me trough that.

And now with data list I can only list the data in my site, what other controls can I use to update, edit and delete data in my database, or do some queries?

First thoughts:

You could add the access database to the SharePoint or use Inforpath. You cannot use InfoPath Web Based forms to add content however so you will have open the form with the actual infopath product. If you want to use web based forms capture the data through infopath in sharepoint and use a stored proceedure to copy it over.
