I'm having a problem sharing my ADSL internet connection over a Netgear wireless router.

The problem seems to be due to the supplied ZyXEL USB Modem. Being USB it doesn't have a LAN out but router wants to see the Internet as a LAN line in the back. The Internet is actually on my desk top which is in turn plugged into one of the regular ports on the back of the router.

I can get both computers to see each other but I can't get internet on my laptop. I've tried using windows share on the modem but it won't take, and I get an error message

Does anyone know how this configuration can be set up, if it can at all?

Thanks

I assume that this is XP, and you have to have the Internet Connection Sharing on your deskstop. Probably not installed so you have to get it off the CDRom.

I found out that The ISP has their own firmware for the modem (which came free with the account). This firmware disables sharing.

Problem fixed: I bought a Belkin F5D7630, works like a charm.
