Hello,
I have been requested to setup a Windows Server 2003 and for it to act as a nameserver, so that:

ns1.domain.com
ns2.domain.com

are on the same machine?

Is this doable, if so any links and advise on how to do it will be much appreciated.

Shouldn't ns1 and ns2 be on two different machines?

Last question, is it right that a nameserver should not also be a web server?

I have a client who wants to stick both mail, web and nameserver on one machine.

Thanks

Although you can house multiple domains on a windows DNS server, when you indicate ns1.domain.com and ns2.domain.com this refers to having primary and secondary dns servers which needs to be on separate machines
Although you can run a web server and a DNS server on the same host, I wouldn't recommend it as these should be two distinct functions running on different machines.

If those DNS servers are also Domain Controllers, you should NOT host a website on them. Additionally, if they are public facing webservers, it may be prudent to put the web servers in a perimiter network to enhance security.
