I have purchased a GoDaddy certificate and need to get it configured. I am specifically interested in using it for my Exchange server. I am running Windows SBS 2003. Can anyone offer info on what I need to give GoDaddy as the domain name to give the certificate? I have my web site hosted elsewhere, but my email does come directly into my SBS server. I do not use a POP connector.

I'd appreciate any help on what I need to do for GoDaddy and anything I should be aware of with Exchange as I have never done this before.

Thanks!

1. Go to your IIS Admin.

2. Create a new web site called "Test" there and point it anywhere you want.

3. Get properties on it and go into the Directory Security area. Click on Server Certificate in the Secure Communications section.

4. Create a cert request, accept defaults, name it after the PUBLIC name of your server, and and use your company name as the organization, and put "Technology" as the organizational unit.

5. When you come to the common name area, use the public FQDN of your server (ie remote.domain.com or mail.gadgetmonger.org, etc).

6. Finish the wizard and save the cert request to a file. If you open up the file you created, you can copy and paste that blob of text on the GoDaddy site when it asks you for the request.

When GoDaddy sends you the cert, follow their instructions on how to install it. You will install the new cert into the "test" website you created. Then you can go to the Default Website and look at the certs there and switch the cert to the GoDaddy one, since it will be in your local certificate store.
