Hi Sorry about this stupid question, but I'm a NewBe in HP UX 10.20 so please could you help me to do this:

place xml-xalan/c/bin on the path (PATH) and
xml-xalan/c/lib on the shared library path
(LD_LIBRARY_PATH)

I hope You could help me to solve this problem!

Hello:

I don´t know if this is what you really mean:

export PATH=$PATH:/what_ever_directory_you_want

and the same with LD_LIBRARY_PATH. You can add this sentences for your .profile file if you want. If you are using shared libraries under Hp-ux take a look to this variables SHLIB_PATH in this doc:

I hope this help.

Hi

I think it should work so, but I want permenantley add the PATH to my profile. I think this will only be activ for this session!!

Hi,

yes if you use only the sentence export the changes you made will be lost at the end of the session. If you want to modify permantely the value of that variables you should change the .profile file of that user. If you want to modify the values for all the users in the system you can modify the file /etc/PATH and add there the value for the PATH variable. If you only want to modify the value of the variable PATH for sh or csh see the files /etc/profile and /etc/csh.login

Best regards.
