Hi - I'm at the end of my rope... Please help!
I checked the "hide server" box in the "TCP/IP" settings in the "Server Network Utility". I restarted the service and basically seemed to have screwed up my whole settings. I unchecked it again and restarted the computer but things still are not working properly.
I am using BDE to connect to my applications, and in the profiles it uses the server name to connect. This is what I get:
SERVER NAME: SQL2K
NETWORK STATUS: NOT CONNECTED
RESULT: CANNOT LOCATE OR CONNECT TO SQL SERVER
SERVER NAME: SQL2K
NETWORK STATUS: CONNECTED
RESULT: CANNOT LOCATE OR CONNECT TO SQL SERVER
SERVER NAME: 127.0.0.1
NETWORK STATUS: NOT CONNECTED
RESULT: CANNOT LOCATE OR CONNECT TO SQL SERVER
SERVER NAME: 127.0.0.1
NETWORK STATUS: CONNECTED
RESULT: CONNECTS OK
So, the only way to connect to a SQL application is by setting the server name to itself (127.0.0.1) and to be connected to the network.
Does anybody know what I did and how I can resolve it?
Thanks!
Joseph
