I'm running RH 7.0 and recently upgraded sendmail to
sendmail-8.11.6-1.7.0. Suddenly having problems sending mail to within
my own domain.

If I try to send myself a test message, here's the output:

[root@myserver /etc]# date |mail -v root@myserver.mydomain.com
root@myserver.mydomain.com... aliased to os.tony@mydomain.com
os.tony@mydomain.com... User unknown
root... aliased to os.tony@mydomain.com
/root/dead.letter... Saved message in /root/dead.letter

Sending mail out to other addresses works fine. This has also killed
my relay capability.

Anyone have any ideas of what could be wrong?

Thanks,
Tony

Hi ostony,
Do you get any inbound mail at all? I had a problem something like that. I upgraded my whole system. I setup my user accounts then setup sendmail. Sendmail only recognized names setup after it was setup so I deleted the older accounts and recreated them and it worked fine. Setup a dummy account and test it 1st - couldn't hoit.

Nope - haven't been able to receive inbound, but it looks like it's relaying ok. I should explain that the email address ostony@mydomain.com is my address on an Exchange server. So ostony is not an account on the linux box, just the exchange server.
