sending a mail using unix

helo friends !
i have a problem and request u all to help me out.
the problem is that when a new userid is generated for a customer a trigger will be fired and accordingly email id
of the customer will be picked from the database and a letter has to
be mailed to the customer.it has to be done using c or unix?
please help me how do i go about?

You haven't provided enough information. There are a variety of ways to do this, but it depends mostly on your database and OS. Since you posted in the Solaris forum, I should assume you're trying to do this on Solaris, though I have a feeling that you're somehow unclear on this. Post again with your OS and database and more clear specs.
