Seeking solution

Client (Retirement Home) has a CICS 4.12 with Flash VM 2.0.10. Sets have 2-digit DN's.

The Nurses' station has 3 extensions, 24, 30 &35. 24 is the main extension where Flash transfers the call to. 35 is an SLT on an ATA, the other two are M7208's. They wanted all 3 phones to ring at the same time so I exchanged 24 & 35, making the SLT as the main extension and added Ans DN's on the two system phones.
( They need a cordless in the mix for when all nurses are on the floor, away from the office. )

This worked fine until they realized that they didn't have Message Notification on any of the phones. The obvious solution is to change to a 3-digit system with Hunt groups, however their CCR is "Voicemail Hell" making it a major job to reprogram.

Tried last night on the test bench system here several options. One of which was the set up a MB on 24, but assign the extension as 30 hoping that the notification would land on that phone. It does not. Also tried a new MB on 30 with the extension 24. Didn't work.

Setting "Notification" in personal MB's will only ring another phone a couple of times. If they're out of tghe office this obviously won't work.

Thought about a Ringing Service, but that only works from incoming exterior calls, not I/C calls.

The only other option I see is to place a P-Touch note on each phone to remind them to check their VM.

Any other solution, short of changing to 3-digit DN's?

Thanks in advance

Hopefully a spare trunk port?

30 and 35 are both M7208
35 has an Answer DN for 24
24 ATA (and lead DN)
ATA looped to both cordless and trunk 034
Line 034 A&P on X30
MB 30 with EXT:30

Thanks Curly. Works like a charm. I knew you guys would come up with a solution. Ahh, the things we do for our clients...

OK, new problem. It works like you say for the FIRST caller. After that, or if someone is already using Ext 30, it goes straight to VM. They want to be able to receive a second call when one is in progress. BTW, the ext for the notification is 35, not 30.

Tried different things this morning, then later in the day I thought about not enough I/C's, so I returned and changed them all to 3 I/C's. Still didn't work so I checked programming and found that the I/C's on the Cordless (24) had reverted back to 1, Changed it again and yep, it changed again. So I went to the phone phone and found that it was the original ATA, so I swapped it for an ATA-2.

Changed 24 to have 3 I/C's and it stuck, but I still have the same problem. Removed the Ans DN on 35 for the cordless. No difference.

So, are they limited to one call at a time inbound or will they now have to do it right and change to 3 digits and use a ringing service, or hunt group?

I say best bet is go 3 digits.

I never put in a CICS at 2 digits, that's just wrong lol

I was afraid of that. Oh well, if the client wants it bad enough he'll just have to pay to redo the VM.

Thanks again....have a great weekend!

UPDATE

When I was there today for something else, I tried removing the CFB on that Ext 35. I then took an external line on Ext 30, broke dial tone then called in with my cell to ext 24. The call went through. I doubt like hell that all 3 extensions would be busy at the same time...

Thanks for the help.

not to butt in on this but you have a nurses station that needs to take calls and msgs with 1 cordless and 2 digital sets. send all calls to the analog and set cfwd no ans to vm. set cfwd busy to the lowest # digital set. set an answer dn on digital set 1 for the analog, and on the second digital set for the analog and the first digital. cfwd no answer from digital 1 back to analog main set to get calls back to vm. for msg waiting install a visual indicator set by the 90V of msg waiting at the corner of the hallway where every nursing station is and tie it to the analog ext from the ata2.
So on an incoming call
call rings ext analog, digital1, digital 2 no answer to vm analog and visial indicator
if no answer to lowest ext vm (analog)
if busy fwd to digital1 and digital 2
if no answer fwd from digital 1 back to analog (either still busy and back to digitals, or no answer and to vm)

analog must be cfwd no ans to vm, cfwd busy to digital1
digital 1 can have no vm and no cfwd busy, cfwd no ans to analog
digital 2 can have vm but rings to answer must exceed all others from analog and digital1 and no cfwd busy
digital1 has app key for analog
digital2 has app key for analog and digital1
analog is lowest # ext
