Trying to minimize the complexity of adminning security at my last job, I used a single system.mdw for 12 dbs. For testing, I created a user called TestUser and included or deleted her from various groups as appropriate. This worked OK, and made sense because there was a lot of overlap between the various groups and dbs. Has anyone found any advantages to using multiple system.mdws, or disadvantages of using a single one? I'm about to apply security to some new dbs at my current job and most of these users and dbs do not overlap. I'm also upgrading to 2000 and see that although 2000 can use a 97 system.mdw, the system.mdw itself doesn't upgrade; if I want a 2000 version I have to recreate it. So I'm also thinking about that come whatever is the next version after 2000...
