I am getting the following when trying to search:
Livelink Error:
Error in search broker
[Search engine on lucanlive:8500 not available!]

What could this be?

have you checked that you Admin server is up and running and that there are no issues with your Enterprise Dataflow ?

I did see that in the Enterprise search manager, the status of the search engine was idle. When attempting to start it, I got:

[Problem starting the search server.. Could not start the database with the OTC Admin server for Enterprise Search Engine. Error: [Cannot start database]]

Is there a livelink.log more than 1 Gig in the search folder ?
<your indexing path>\index\enterprise\index
Some times the existence of such a large log causes the problem on system that nver had any indexing problems this grows and grows

Well, if I called the wrong number, why did you answer the phone?

Now I see that the Enterprise index engine has an update error 143 - unable to synchronize data

If you haven't configured/installed /copied a new livelink system recently using the same production database and if the errors don't resolve after a re-synchronization,it might be wise to contact OT support.
