SE slow?

Is it just me or is windows 98 early version much faster in loading and does not crash as much as the second edition? I literally used both on my system by installing 98 first edition...(finding that I have the second edition) formatting the c drive and installing the SE...played with it and noticing that it crashes and is slow and doesn't restart w/o crashing...then going back to first edition by formatting the c drive once again.

In my experience, I don't see the point of getting the second edition except for that internet sharing thing.

ICS is about the only reason one would want SE.
If you don't need it, don't bother.
ME has set up ICS nicely though.
