Hi:

My browser (IE 5.5) doesn't seem to want to save network passwords even when I click "Save this password in your password list". I'm running Windows 2000. When I visit the same website after shutting down the browser and re-opening, the form fields are blank again.

There's another computer with the same OS running IE 5, which does save passwords.

Interestingly, in Tools > Internet Options > Content > AutoComplete, the box for AutoComplete "User names and passwords" is greyed out on the machine in question. On the machine saving passwords, it is enabled.

However, I don't see why?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Moszy

Moszy,

Here's how to totally reset it it's corrupted:

Click Start, point to Programs, and then click MS DOS Prompt.

Type the following command:

c:\windows\system\pstores.exe -install
NOTE: This command replaces the correct ProtectedStorage registry key.

Quit all programs and restart the computer.

If that doesn't work:

After clicking the Clear Forms and Clear Passwords buttons,
backup the registry and/or export the following keys:
go to Start>Run, type regedit. Navigate to:

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\IntelliForms\SPW

and delete any encypted entries that are listed in the right pane window.
