Hi folks,
I'd like to get some input from those who know (that's you guys.).
We have provided our branches throughout the Florida staellite phones so they cvan reach us in the event of a hurricane or other emergency where they lose power and regular phones. The funny thing about these phones is that they are like their own little country and have their own internation dialing code, All of the phones in my network are the same code and no other company has my code so we are an island in that respect.

Now on my switch here we have some 300+ phones but, of course, not all phones enjoy the same NCOS. I'm the phone guy so my phone can dial internationally and most department heads are in my same NCOS and a few other select essential people.

I don't think I should make just a few special phones able to call these satellite phones - I think everyone should be able to call them - in the event of an emergency, I don't want to make a user have to hunt down a phone that is allowed to call what could potentially be their life-saver. Now I could raise everyone up to the same NCOS as me but that's not a good idea as far as I can tell. I thinkbetter would be to make this one country code available to all - I'm not worried about abuse as these phones are the only thing in that code anyone could call.

So if I am right in thinking anyone should be able to call those special numbers, what's the easiest way to accomplish that? If I'm not, what's a better way?

Thanks!
Lee

Wow - typo city up there! That first sentence should be the STATE of Florida, satellite phone, and "can" instead of cvan. Fat fingers strike again!

I use the system speed call for numbers like this. Set the NCOS of the speed dial list to high enough then list all of the stellite phones as entries.

I did this with some special 900 number weather services that the government set up as pay per use and the users can now call them from any phone onsite.

This does mean you need to define the ssu on every set but it works well for us. If you already have the ssu then this is even easier, just add the numbers and raise the NCOS of the ssc in LD 18.

Sweet! I'm glad I asked becasue I doubt I would have thought of that. I do already have a ssc list to dial the branches and it is already high enough to make that call so all I'd have to do is add these numbers to it. Awesome!
