Retrive Modified By

How can I retrive Modified By attribute of a document?
Can I get it using Query or some LAPI call?

where would one see this or in other words if I create a document and you changed its description is there something in the GUI that says "you changed its description".The modification of a node by a user is in dauditnew and its performerid.

actually the "modified By" is available in the database but I don't see anything in lapi that gives you that nor in the GUI.I could be mistaken

How can I retrive modify by from database? Which table and which field?

If you are refering to Audit trail then there are many activites comes under Audit trail, all are not considered as document modified.

What should I qery to get document modify by?
