Does anyone know how you can restore some data from a local drive using Veritas Back-up exec. We had a server failure and managed to copy some data from 4mm dat tape to a cdrom and now we need to be able to read it.

any help gratefully received.

Thanks Hattersman.

If I understand you correctly, you made a Backup with Backup Exec on to a 4mm Dat. Then you copied some files from the 4mm tape onto a CD-Rom.
How did you do that? The tapes are written in mtf format. There is no visible structure on it. The only way to get your data back is to run a restore with Backup Exec from the tape. Whatever you copied from the tape to the CD in not useable.
