I have a customer that is having issues with Fax and we've discovered that the call is travelling over the network.

I am aware of the requirements for DSP-II's and T38 Licenses.

What I am wondering is how to tell if the system already has the required DSP's.

Main site is a brand new MXe-III and the other is a Brand New CX-II.

Before I order DSP-II's I would like to make sure that the system does not already have them.

Anyone??

More Info:

Forgot to mention MCD4.2 SW

CX-II Has 2 Sharc 21363 DSP
MXe-III Has 4 Sharc 21363 DSP

I believe Sharc 21363 DSP is equivilant to the Quad DSP which does not support T.38.

My guess is that you will need to purchase DSP-II's as the system won't have the required DSP's

from my experience when I uploaded T.38 licences an alarm was immediatly generated advising I had insufficient DSP resources.
I would have thought you would recieve the same

We then added a DSP II and this is identified as 8 CCT DSP II in the hardware modules form
Sarond is correct the sharc is the QUAD DSP

Usually T.38 requires and additional DSP card. The MXe otherwise has a QUAD which is enough for most things.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

OK, That works for me.

It seems obvious to me that I would need DSP-II's at both ends and licensing at both ends but I will ask anyway.

Would anyone recommend the SIP - Mediatrix route?

Faxing issues can be to do with echo cancellation and your fax machines at both ends should have a separate class of service with "Camp on tone/fax machine" and "busy overide security" set to yes

I think? the "show status DSP" command will show DSP and type installed amd im what MMC slot

have used mediatrix using SIP T licenses before however recently 'converted' to SIP extenstions using Linksys ATA's

no issues with these and probably cheaper than doing a DSPII with T.38 licenses.
I only use T.38 if the service provider or Telco is SIP.

The originating and terminating device would need to have DSP resources and T38 licenses. In the case of a call coming across IP trunks from a TDM trunk to a TDM fax device, that means both 3300's need to be equipped.
