I created a Visual Basic 2005 Windows application that displays a server report in a ReportViewer control. A user has recently experienced problems when attempting to print a report to a particular printer located in a different room in the building. The user had been able to print successfully to that printer for many months. The user can print to other printers. The error message states, "Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indicator that other memory is corrupt."

I had the user uninstall/reinstall the ReportViewer and .Net Framwork 2.0, but the problem still occurs.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Do they have administrator rights to the machine? The SRS Server pront button requires an ActiveX to be downloaded and installed for it to work. The workaround for now is to have them pick convert to pdf, open it (instead of saving it), and print from acrobat.

Maybe I didn't explain clearly enough?

The print button is on the ReportViewer control in my Windows application and not on the reporting server. The user was able to print from the Windows application for many months, until recently when the error started occuring.

There's still an executable that has to be run with Admin rights to get it to work.

I had the user execute (or install) the ReportViewer.exe from Microsoft many months ago. Is that what you mean by 'requires an ActiveX to be downloaded and installed'?
