Guys, we just promoted a new domain controller. This site only has one. When we try and force replication, we receive the following error: the naming context is the process of being removed or is not replicated from the specified server. Please help. I uninstalled/reinstalled dns. stopped/restarted the netlogon server to register the srv record but no change. Help is greatly appreciated.

Yes. I pinged the dns server. I stopped/started dns and did the same with the netlogon service. Still get the same error.

Is your DNS AD integrated?? Did you read through the link I posted above??

Commonly errors like that are DNS related.

Yes. THank you. This zone is AD Integrated with dynamic/secure updates enabled.

Do all the relevant DNS records exist for the new DC??

What errors are in the event logs??

Yes. Hope you can help me pagy. THis is driving me nuts. Pagy, just as a side note but this is the second new domain controller we've installed, standard procedures, and we're having the same problem. The KCC is generating connections but I get the error I mentioned above on both domain controllers.

there was an event 4015. And we had an error about this dns server needed to be added to the replication zone.

what was the whole error message.

Some more info on your setup would be good as well, link speed between sites?? any firewalls in between?? IP settings of the domain controllers.

If you look at the dns zone on each DC do you see the same records??

No firewalls and link speeds are t1s. The names are the same on both servers. The only difference i see is the name in the replicated naming context inside sites and services/properties between the old server and the new server. the new server just lists our domain name: scrsd.net. The other server lists forestdnszones.scrsd.net, domaindnszones.scrsd.net, scrsd.net. Something seems wrong here.

So what server is your new dc pointing to for dns??

It's pointing to itself and another dns server in a different site that is currently up and running.

Hmmm, still stinks of dns being a problem to me. What does dcdiag have to say, run it on both dcs....
