does the remote registry service package exist/run on WinNT? if so, where on earth can i find it (have tried the MS Knowledge base etc.)

i've been advised to use it in order to allow DCOM communications between a client/server where the client needs to access the server machine's registry to locate the appropriate server objects etc?

more details see thread195-36157 & the end of thread195-10230

ANY help would be appreciated
cheers

Cant help ya with the DCOM stuff (no idea what it is), but to access a remote registry, you need admin privlidges on that machine.
Open regedit on your computer, then FILE - CONNECT NETWORK REGISTRY. Either manually type in the name, IP, or choose form the list presented.
Poof, you're there!

Good Luck!

There's the Reg command in the Nt Resource Kit which allows you to manipulate the registry of the \\computer that you specify. Never tried it myself though - found it in the book 'Window's NT Shell Scripting' by Tim Hill.
