Hi,

A friend of mine is trying to reformat the HDD on his Toshiba Notebook that currently has LINUX installed. He wants to get rid of the LINUX OS and go back to Win 98SE.

Here is an excerpt from his message to me...

"I am able to boot from a WIN 98 restore floppy OK. The CD works fine with the default CD driver form the boot disk. When I run FDISK, I show 2 partitions, one only 25M, the other with the remaining 6 GB. I tried every option and sub option in FDISK, and get very conflicting information. It won't let me do anything, it just sits there and argues
with itself. "

Does he need to use something other or in addition to Fdisk to reformat this drive? I couldn't help him... I hope one of you can.

Thank you for any help,

Gale

Hi Gale

DOS fdisk does not recognize Linux partitions. You need a Linux boot disk and use the fdisk there.

Ed Please let me know if the sugestion(s) I provide are helpful to you.
Sometimes your the windshield... Sometimes your the bug.

Thanks Ed... that makes sense.

I know my friend doesn't have a LINUX boot disk but he should be able to make one from the OS. I'll let him know, thank you very much for the help.
