Hello all,

I'm running into a strange problem when installing RH 8.0. The whole process goes smoothly until we get towards the final setup where it asks what kind of video card you're running and then the type of monitor. The problem is that no matter what I select for the monitor type (be it generic laptop, 1024x768 @80Hz, etc), when I test the screen settings the monitor itself gives me a message called "Out of Range". As far as I can figure Linux is trying to set an HF of 28.1KHz when my monitor's minimal setting for HF is 30KHz. From this point it's stuck in a loop where the test screen comes up, asks me if I can see a message and counts down, then goes "Out of Range" again. I can't get out of it nor complete the install. Does anyone know what's going on? Stats for my computer are below.

Thanks,

I had a similar problem when I installed RedHat 8.0 on one of my computers recently. I simply rebooted the computer and set up X when the computer had booted into Linux.
