I don't know if this is the appropriate forum to post in, but can anyone recommend a good flatbed scanner? - .

Here are the specifics:
Speed is our main issue
Medium sized business
Mostly black and white letter-sized documents (no photos)
must be stackable (preferably up to 50 pages)
All docs are to be scanned to PDF files, in as few steps as possible. - must be user friendly!!

Thanks in advance...

Whatever you do stay away from Lexmark - junk. Tried 4 of them in a one month period adn even got the latest modem and still kept dying on me. I got tired of returning them on the other side of town and finally paid the extra money and got a HP and now it rocks. Fast enough for me, print quality is great, reliable and looks great too.

I was looking at HP too - seems to be the only brand capable of the volumes I want. In fact, many of the other pc manufacturer's websites link back to the HP site!

What kind of HP did you get?

We've got a similar problem. We need to make a large number of 300dpi B&W scans for a textbook, and speed is becoming critical. HP refers to their 7000 series as "fast." How can one judge "fast"? Is it preview speed? Memory in the scanner?
