I am using Veritas Backup Exec 8.6 for Windows on a Windows 2000 server to back up a Novell 5.0 fileserver to an Exabyte EZ17 tape library. The Novell FS has BE 7.5 installed on it. Until about 3 weeks ago everything worked just fine. Now when I do a restore to check the validity of the files, I get file corruption. I.e. FoxPro for Windows 2.6a databases cannot be opened and get the error that the file is not a database; executables no longer function. There is no error on backup or restore. I have spent two weeks with Veritas email help, sent the belog, etc. to no avail. If this had never worked, I would reload and restart, but it stopped without any changes that I can find. I have to fix this or move to another backup schema permanently and quickly.

The problem was with having the Windows drivers for the EZ17 loaded and loading the Veritas drivers. When the software was reloaded with only the Veritas drivers it worked fine. Found this is the software documentation.
