Rebooting

I have a pc that was not able to open .exe files. I tried to do a windows repair install, well when I tried to boot from cd it would open reboot. So I tried changing IDE, diffrent CD ROM. Well I was able to open up regedit and get the .exe problem fixed. So I went on to clean up viruses and spyware had to use killbox to kill some .dll files well after I reboot it now it gets to the splash screen and reboots. I am not able to boot from windows cd, but I can boot from other boot up cds. LIke memory boot cd and hd clone. I did try another hard drive and still not working. Please Help!!!!

Try another Windows CD or copy the one you have, that sometimes works. Do you have any other OS CDs like Win98, Win2K etc. to try?

I am sorry I did fail to mention that I have tried 3 cds 2 of the same ISO and one from a dell PC all of the same OS.

Does Safe Mode allow you to start Windows?

Have you tried setting your Bios to Safe Defaults, even checking to see if any Bios update is available may help, also disabling any Bios scanning if your Bios has such a thing?

Maybe the ISO images are faulty, do they boot on another machine? Same with the Dell CD, but I can see we are stretching the imagination saying that 3 CD's are faulty, still stranger things happen.

Have you tried removing any easily attached hardware equipment from the equation, such as USB etc?

Can you boot from a 9x Startup Floppy (use the option with CD-ROM support)?
