Are there any considerations or things to set up in SQL Server 2005 when you upgrade the amount of RAM on the server that runs SQL Server? We are upgrading the server from 16 Gigs of RAM to 32. I know if SQL is restarted it should use the maximum amount of memory available in the settings, as we have it now. Thanks

First off, what version of SQL are you running? x32 or x64.

Thanks

OK ... since you are using 16GB already, I assume you are using the /PAE switch in the boot.ini and AWE is enabled.

Another check would be to see that you have allocated the new memory fix dynamically (in which SQL Server will take care of everything OR you have a fixed allocation that needs to be bumped out in order to add the additional 16GB.

A restart of the SQL services would then be in order.

Thanks
