Hi,
I am a newbee to AIX. Could somebody tell me how to create a JFS2 file system with RAID 10 in a Volume group which resides on internal disks. ( No external SAN)
Thanks

You'll need a raid adapter
then
smitty pdam
and create the array / hdisk
then mkvg on the array / hdisk to create the vg, lv, fs, etc.
If you need more google or use the man pages....

Don't quote me for this solution coz i don't know accurate is this!

i beleive if you go to smitty mklv

and then set the following:

Code:
Number of Copies of each logical partition: 2

Allocate each logical partition copy on a SEPARATE physical volume? Yes

Strip Size? (depends on your requirment)

I'm not sure of the answer but as i read thru it seems doing RAID 10 to the logical Volume!!

Regards
Khalid

Khalid's answer will work. You can further identify which disk you want the system to mirror under Disks. You can also place the data on the outer edge of the disk - as this would be the faster location. You do not have to have a stripe size - and with only 2 disks - you would not want a stripe size.

If you aloready have a logical volume that you want to mirror - Raid 1+0 - then you can use smitty as well. smitty lv - change show characteristics - add a copy to a logical volume.
