Has anyone else had an issue with R8 lately where expansion modules are getting rather...forgetful? Have an ip500v2 fully loaded with exp mods (ds30v2's and phone30's). Had a module go flakey after 12 hrs of use, just up and died and forgot its software. Had just cut over a 200+ extn system and blam! That was a bad night. Now 2 more, on the same system, are doing it.

exp mod was so bad it would not respond to my DTE commands. I have another 500 to work with so I'm going to to take another stab at it.

I cannot say this happened much in earlier releases. THis is the 2nd or third system I've seen this on since R8.

We have seen the same thing. we have a lot that will go red for a few hours then just come back like nothing was ever wrong.

I asume you did but did you upgrade it to 3.2.999 before?
It auto upgrades on the IP500V2 and i think it has to do with that.
It should come back with software when it looses it because of that auto upgrade.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

No, I just plug them in and they upgrade to whatever is on the card (which I upgrade before I put into the system). Never ran into issues before, but recently they've been goin crazy.

I did manage to finally get into DTE, load it with the 3_2_999, then upgrade to 8.0.18, so far so good. Lets hop the other 3 dont fail :)

Do all digital expansion modules need to go to 3.2_999 b4 going to rel8? The documentation doesn't specify it.

Core Software Upgrade Summary
The table below shows the necessary steps that must be taken to upgrade your IP Office system to Release 8.0. If running a software version older than 4.0 then please refer to Technical Bulletin 109.
Platform Current Release Upgrade Step 1 Upgrade Step 2
IP500
4.x /5.0/6.x/7.0
Load 8.0

IP500 V2

All modules

When they are new then i always upgrade the DS16V2 and the DS30V2 to 3.2.999
Even when that already is done in the past i do it.

I supose it would depend on whether Avaya have updated the manufacturing plant so they get done before shipping.

Personally I would do it any way, it is a simple process that will do no harm but is probably doing a whole world of good.

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Indeed, same here, always step modules through 3.2.999 in any upgrade.

I have noticed expansion modules becoming more and more temperamental since 7.0 (I have posted here a couple of times regarding it) especially Phone 30's which can't be stepped, hopefully Avaya will pull their finger out because they aren't exactly what you would describe as cheap :)
