My kingdom for an answer:
Anyone want to tell me why a JPEG I can open and manipulate in PhotoShop would be rejected by PageMaker? The image is color, CMYK, 300 dpi, and pretty large. I can't place it in a PageMaker document - gives me the error "file has invalid data." Makes no sense to me that I can open the file just fine in PhotoShop but not place it in PageMaker. Pulling out my hair. Help?

Hi

Jpeg is not a good format for placement in Pagemaker. Tiff or EPS are the formats that are the most suitable to place in a Pagemaker file.

Anyway Jpeg is a compression method and a lot of the data who originally in the picture are lost by the compression. And if you're picture has to be outputted to a high resolution printer and it is in clolour often the printout is not in clolour but in grey.

Hope this explains it.

Grillhouse is right about the quality.
"Progressive JPEGs" and "CMYK JPEGs"
cannot be opened in PM.
