Hi,

ARCserve 2000 SP4
HP LTO 1/9 Ultrium
Windows 2000 + SP3

I have run a defrag and keybuild on my databases to fix some corruption and make things smaller. This worked fine. It made my database from 4GB to 2.6GB. But over the last week my database has grown to it's original size again which is bigger than I have disk space for. Doesn't the packing of the database stay packed? The prune is set to 30 days and runs every night.

Is there any way to pack the DB and keep it packed? I would run the packing tools more often but it takes 18 hours to complete.

Thanks,

Matt

Not sure about sp4 but in previous ARCserve 2000 versions my experience is the packing doesn't actually do anything, the utility is broken and just displays info about the DB.

Pruning must be enable for defrag to pack a DB, but you probably already knew that.
