Is there a way to setup Micros to keep more historical detail data? Micros told me that by desing the system will keep 15 days of ticket detail. We need at least 45 days of ticket historical data.

Micros Res 4.1 hfx 3 , database 300 mb, Servers Hard disk space available between 60 and 100 GB.

Hi,

you have to moify a couple of the stored procedures. If you get it wrong, you get the "CHECKS NOT PURGED" error message as you start each check

Any idea about the names of this store procedures ?

Inside of sp_purge history you will find this:

-- ============================================================================

-- Set the maximum number of days to purge check detail and trans detail
-- to 10 days. Set the number of days to hold check detail to 14.
-- NOTE: Setting the num_days_chk_dtl was added during 2.0 development.
-- If the original functionality is restored, removed the line that
-- sets this variable.

SET @const_max_num_days = 10;
SET @num_days_chk_dtl = 14;

Be aware that keeping a large amount of days in the database will increase the database size and may affect performance.

Suppose it really depends on how many checks your processing every day.

If you find that editing the stored procedure causes you performance issues you could easily just write an SQL export to output the check detail and store it as a plain text file for future reference but the micros journals kinda do this anyway. I suppose it depends on why you need the 45 days worth of checks.

Thanks Mike Rose and CataIMF, this is a great source of knowledge, i already changed the SP as suggested and works exactly as needed.

Thanks again.

Will those changes stay in place after a version upgrade or will the sp's have to be edited again?

It could throw an exception when upgrading (applying service pack), meaning you would have to revert it to its expected settings before applying the SP.
