This morning, when I was creating a report which is based on a union query, I received the following error - Pure virtual function called. Microsoft Access immediately crashed(I am using Access 97). I subsequently obtained the same error when running other reports. I only managed to get rid of this error by rebooting the machine. The reports then worked satisfactorily. Does anyone have any idea what this error message means and why it occurs

Morning Elise

done some research on your behalf and my curiosity - My first question is

Have you a HP printer hooked up to this PC cos some drivers have given this when dealing with databases.

second question

When was your last virus check cos retro virus also plays pranks

Lets get these two killed and move on to Access and windows trouble shooting

regards

Jo

Good Morning Jo

Thanks for your help.

I think it may be a hewlet Packard driver problem. The PC is hooked up to a HP Business Inkjet 2250 and the error message did mention a file HP????.drv. In addition, when I recreated the report on my other PC which is not hooked up to any printer, the report ran first time. Where did you find out about this error? I am just curious as I dont know why suddenly yesterday it should occur?

I'v been working in an office that uses HP Laserjet 1200 printers and so far most of my pc's work fine with it but i'm getting some with this "Pure Virtual Function Called" I'v had no luck fixing or resolving this problem, except to set my users up on another printer. Can someone help, such as updated drivers for the HP Laserjet 1200 or maybe their's something else i can do. I'm using Win98 SE, Win2000 pro, WinME and XP Pro. But this only happenes on the Win98 SE PC's
