hi everybody, i have a problem with samba, the real problem i discover is when i run the nmbd daemon, if i from a windowsXp machine search th network for the ip server (\\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) i can access all the directories without a problem, but if i search the network for the server name (\\nameofserver or through network places) i access the server, see the directories but when i want to open a directory it get very slow and usually get the no responding msg in windowsXp.
Know this problem only happens if i use a windowsXp machine, but if i use windows2000 or windows 9x/me, i don't have this problem

hope anybody can help me
thanks in advance

Try setting

OS LEVEL = 60
LOCAL MASTER = YES

In your samba server.
