We've been attempting to wire our own headsets for use with our Norstar phones. Everything seems to be set up fine, and the headset works perfectly well with any other phone, but when plugged into the headset jack on our Norstar systems, the phone won't admit that there is a headset attached (it switched to speakerphone instead). Is there something we're missing? How does the Norstar phone recognize an attached headset?

On a Nortar you MUST have handsfree enabled and use handsfree to activate the headset eg. answer a call by pressing the handsfree button and also there are little tiny switches on the base of the headset and you will need to know what setting to use for a Norstar system...what type of headset is it? make and model?

Hey, I am having the same trouble using a headset on a Norstar M7310 phone using a Plantronics Mirage® H41 Headset (Voice Tube. I have enabled the handsfree on the phone and when wearing the headset and pressing the buttons on the phone, you can hear the speaker clicking, but no dail tone. If you press the line button and let it stay on line, the busy signal kicks in and you can barley hear it through the headset. Is there something else to configure on the phone before using a headset?

The Plantronics Polaris line of headsets are fully compatible with the Norstar sets, and do not require an amplifier. These headsets are the P-series. Yours would be a P41-U10P
