Using certain letter combinations with certain typefaces causes automatic glyphs to appear in my text, does anyone know how to turn this off?

The real kicker is that it doesn't do it every time.

The typeface that is the worst for it is ITC Souvenir. Some letter combinations that i've noticed are "IO" and "IL".

Is there a setting I can change to keep this from happening?

Yes, if you go into the character panel/pallete and click the Fly Arrow on the top right, then you can turn off "Ligatures". This oughta sort it out. Only thing is it may be part of the character set.

In this case, using CS3. You can insert a "Non-Joiner" inbetween the two letters. Found under Type>Insert Special Character>Other>Non-Joiner.

In CS3 you can adjust the kerning/tracking between the two letters to seperate them.

Bothersome I know.

Thank you! You've saved me hours of pain-in-the ass typography
