Hi, I have a command exec job which copies a file from a mapped network drive (which is on a unix machine) and when it runs it says "access is denied". However when I log in using the same account on the SQL Server machine and try the command it works ok.

One thing I noticed is that agent and server are running under different accounts.

Any ideas.

Simon

You may want to try a couple things. Set up the agent and sql server services are running under an account that has permissions on both machines.

You may also want to look at DTS as an option to see if you are able to reproduce the error using DTS.

you can specify an account that the SQL Job executes under. As long as it is an account that has permission in both places it should work.

Yeah, I seem to have tried it with just about every account. Even ones that have the necessary drives mapped and with the right permissions.

One thing that might mean somehting is when you log onto the server it asks you for a username/password for the mapped directory on the unix server. I can't see how Agent could provide this.

Simon.

that would be a problem. If the file is on a UNIX server you may want to look at using Samba to share it to the Windows network. Another possibility is to have the file written to a directory you can FTP from then use a DTS package to FTP the file.
