Hi,
I have a Netgear Router hard wired to a HP desk top at home.
There is a HP Laserjet 5500 hooked up to this setup.
I am trying to print wirelessly from a Dell Laptop that has no issues connecting to this wireless network.
Since this is a work laptop, I have setup my home network to use the same Work Group name. The IT guys at work told me that I needed to do that.
However, even though I can see the lap top in my Work Group from the desktop (Note: I cannot open folders in it though), I CANNOT seem to see the desk top from the laptop. Of course, therefore(?), even though I have sharing turned on and the firewalls turned off on both ends, I CANNOT seem to find the printer from the laptop to be able to print wirelessly from the laptop.
Help!
Thanks.
PS: When I hardwired the printer to the laptop, I was able to print without a problem. I had removed that printer from 'printers and faxes' since then because it was a 'local' connection as opposed to a 'network' connection and I was not sure whether that was causing problems.

Have you specifically set the printer to be shared on the HP desktop? What operating systems are on the HP and the Dell? Assuming they are compatible, install a new printer on the Dell:- Settings, Printers, Add Printer. Select Network Printer, and either try Browse, or type in the appropriate printer path, e.g.:-

\\computername\printersharename

I'm assuming you've got TCP/IP running on both, with same sub-net mask, and IP addresses in the same range?
