Hi all,

Is there a way to use the Pre/Post Commands to stop some services before the backup job and then start them after the job? How would I do it? I've had some backups that take a long time and I thought if I shut down some of the services it might speed up the backups.

Also, what would be good services to stop?

Thanks

Rink

Assuming your Running Backup Exec 9.x its in the job setup under pre/post command

Check if you Anti-Virus Scanner does "block" your backup. Do you use the Open-File-Option from VERITAS?

You could try and run a batch file to stop the desired services, i have just created two batch files to stop CACHE and then start it back up again once the backup has finished

Thanks for all of the replies. I created 2 batch files, one to stop services and one to start them. I figured out how to use the pre/post command to run them and it worked great last night. I did forget to set the flag that says to only do it on this machine and it couldn't find them when it tried to backup a second server.

Thanks again

Rink
