Hello and thank you for all that have previously answered my post. One issue I seem to be encountering is that when I went to the suggested download area I noticed that the files downloaded in either a .smi or a .bat format. Unfortunatly I do not know how to burn an image from them to make an installation CD. I am also willing to try either 8.6 or 9.1 OS on this machine. I am getting conflicting info on which will work best so I figure if I have 7.5 , 8.6 , and 9.1 I can see for myself since I have 4 systems.

In my experience 8.6 is the weaker of the two, so what I'd do is install 9.1 then go to you control panels and select software update this will then let you update you system to 9.2.2 which is far more reliable.
