I'm trying to create a contact manager in FMP 6. Can someone tell me if it's possible to use a script to look up a domain name registration in a WhoIs and then paste that information into a field?

Is there perhaps such a script floating around for use?

Thanks

Make first a search for WhoIs by hand on the site.

Copy the whole text from the search in the Addressbar into f.i. Word.
See what the static and variable parts are.

Make a calc with the static parts and the variable parts from your fields.

Use the open URL step to do the search/find on the site.

Put everything in a script...

I use the same technique to track AWB numbers and FedEx stuff.

Thank you for the response, but I need more explanation.

What is f.i Word?

What would be the static and variable parts of a WhoIs?

And what would they calculate?

WhoIs = ???

"Use the open URL step to do the search/find on the site" On which site?

"Use the open URL step to do the search/find on the site." Totally lost on this point. What exactly is involved?

"Put everything in a script..." and that scriopt would be . . . what???

I aplogize for all the questions but I can't see through the assumptions in the explanation. May I ask for clarification of those points?

Thanks
