I just heard from our POS guy that the greatly anticipated 2007 POS Software Scoreboard was not released; this can be confirmed at:

and then select "Platforms: 2007 POS Software Scoreboard". Can anyone enlighten me further? The article seems fishy to me.

First thing I notice are POS advertising banners running across their web page. My guess would be a conflict of interest since they are taking money from the POS vendors.

Bo - you're correct. Like you said, the very same POS systems that are being judged, advertise in their periodical. That may even be a condition of having your POS system rated-that they must purchase add space. I am not sure if this is the case, but it certainly makes one wonder.

Here is the more important part, though. The way these "surveys" are taken, is that dealers are asked to give them to their best customers. The survey is taken by the customer and in that sense, is legitimate. The problem with the results is that dealers obviously don't give them to unhappy clients.

I guess you could argue that the results are "real", but a little selective in terms of who is asked for their opinion.
